“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. Everywhere a person looks, and everywhere a person’s eye can see, there are people struggling with so many diseases. Tuberculosis is one among them. In order to provide social and psychological support and the necessary knowledge and information about the disease, Rehab India Foundation organized Tuberculosis Awareness Campaign. Tuberculosis is more common than we may actually think. About one-third of the world’s population is currently infected with Tuberculosis, with one new infection occurring every second.
India has approximately two to three million people infected by Tuberculosis and was the highest TB burden country with World Health Organization (WHO) statistics for 2011. Tuberculosis remains one of the largest on India's health and wellness scale and is the biggest health issue that lies around India.
26 October 2014, Tuberculosis Awareness Campaign was coordinated by Mr. Sadagar, Field Officer & MSW Final year student of Rehab in the Model Village of Assam. The campaign was conducted by Dr. (Mr) H. Sarkar (D.T.O) and Dr. (Mr) Bishwajit Roy (S.T.S) from Bongaigaon Civil Hospital, Bongaigaon of Assam.
The main objective of the awareness campaign was to advert to this public health problem and provide the public with the necessary information and knowledge about tuberculosis. The Doctors also explained the rural folks of diagnosing the diseases earlier so that it can be treated soon and can be halted from spreading further.
Even though our government is taking all the efficient steps to prevent the diseases and improve the health care of the people, all the schemes and strategies introduced by the government is not reaching the people living in the remotest areas of our country.
Rehab India Foundation empowers people throughout the backward and rural region to reach out and improve their standard of living with our best possible services and support. We work to make it easier for poor people to get access to and use healthcare services when they need them. Rehab India Foundation takes forward approaches to ensure that the destitute people in the rural areas lead safe and healthy life.
