Adolescent Group at 3 No Jaraguri



Rehab India Foundation in its endeavor to cultivate sense of dignity and empowerment among females has initiated a holistic campaign in few locations of Assam. As we think that women are the most significant pillars of a developed society. After a care full assessment of the needs of the community Rehab devised a multi-throng approach to achieve this goal. It also applied tools that suits the socio-economic & culture of the specific area through participatory approach. We encouraged the community to participate in the development process.

“From last few months, we are actively providing multiple support services to the people of 3 no jaraguri, Assam, be it educare, rehabilitation & counseling, awareness and healthcare support.  With the formation of Adolescent Group, we believe that more women feel empowered and will be involved in decision making process.” said Project Manager Sarvana Kumar.

On Nov 22, first meeting of Adolescent Group was well organised by Mr. Juber, Rehab MSW 1st year student. Total thirty five girls attended the programme. During the meeting, President and Secretary of the group were announced among the nominated candidates.

Empowering Women…

“Insafudheen, South Zone Project Manager proved his mettle to distribute loan to the unfortunate women on time”, said Mrs. Mumtaz Begum, Chief Guest and Teacher at Government LP School.

The event under Padosi SHG Phase-III was inaugurated by Mrs. Mumtaz on June 27th, 2013 at Anandpeta Village, Guntoor District, Andhra Pradesh.

On the occasion, three women received loan. Karishma got loan for embroidery work, while Samjunnisa for initiating Papad Making. However, Ms. Janbi received loan for enhancing Sari sales.

Samjunnisa said, “I observe that in big cities, there is a big demand of papad and even the margin is high. People love to eat as snacks with tea and have at lunch and dinner. I thank Rehab that my request is approved for initiating in-house business of papad making. I will try my level best to expand business in future for catering the need of people living in cities.”

Invest in a Woman, Empower a Family



“This programme is being implemented with an aim to make women financially independent by organizing them into SHGs”, said Afsel Chandrankandy Secretary Rehab India Foundation by inaugurating the programme.

 The programme (Padosi) SHG Meet was organized for face to face interaction of women SHG members with eminent dignitaries of Rehab on May 4th, 2013 at Rehab Regional Centre located in Anandpeta, District Guntoor, Andhra Pradesh.

Explaining the importance and origin of Self Help Groups, Safarullah Khan, Asst. Programme Manager said, “Muhammad Yunus, Banker, economist and Noble Prize recipient developed the concept of micro finance. And now his model is acceptable worldwide, especially in India. To add to it, we appreciate our sisters for 90% repayment of loan. And, we encourage them to work in groups for better mobilization of resources.”

Adding to it, Mr. Afsel explained, “the importance of formation of SHGs for empowerment of women promoting savings and banking habits, involvement in community actions, and develop individual skills of the community members through livelihood finance and employment generation training.” 

On the same, Saravana Kumar, Central Zone Project Manager shared success stories of Assam Model Village Project and said, “Team Rehab has formed 3 Self Help Groups named Men SHG, Beauty and Moroni. As name suggest, Men SHG contain ten male members, while Beauty and Moroni are women SHGs with ten members in each group.”
 
Insafudheen, South Zone Project Manager detailed SHG Programme at Guntoor and described, “we have successfully completed two phases of SHG Programme and have distributed loan to 30 women for initiating micro-business like tiffin system, tailoring shop, flower making, general store, sarees marketing etc. Last Month, we unlocked Phase three and distributed loan to another three women.”

Altogether, fifty women along with their kids were participated. Few women shared positive change in their lives after receiving loan. Other discussed ideas that what they would do after getting loan.

CBGA Organizes Workshop on‘Budget Analysis and Advocacy from Lens of Minorities’


New Delhi, February 22, 2013: Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA) organized workshop on ‘Budget Analysis and Advocacy from Lens of Minorities’ at Indian Islamic Cultural Centre, Lodhi Road New Delhi dated on 22-23 Feb 2013.

It was organized with the basic objectives to comprehend the basics of government budgets, knowing the process of budgeting by the Union and State Government and access the budget from the perspective of disadvantage sections especially from gender lens.

February 22, 2013:
Session started with welcome note and the brief introduction of all the participants. Aaris Muhammad, Director Centre for Social Justice discussed planned strategies for development of disadvantaged sections of population.  Including, focusing on ‘Gender Responsive Budgeting’ Shubhrat Das emphasized the role of planning commission for the development of disadvantaged and neglected groups.

During the session, all the participants were divided into three groups and were involved in household budgeting. Following that Jawed Alam Khan, Senior Research Officer CBGA forwarded the session giving presentation on ‘understanding policies and budgets for minorities’.

Member CBGA team, Muhammad Aaris with all the participants went to Ministry of Minority Affairs to present a memo to Union Minister, Ministry of Minority Affair, Government of India.  On behalf of CBGA, and other stakeholders of the programme, Musarrat Warsi, HR/PR Manager Rehab India Foundation presented memorandum of the workshop to Dr. Rahman Khan, Honorable Union Minister, Ministry of Minority Affair, Government of India.

February 23, 2013:
Programme was unveiled with the recap of day one. Jawed Alam Khan, Programme Manager explained the implementation and impact for minority related programs.

Post lunch, Priyadarshni, Programme Manager CBGA started ‘group work on budget analysis’. Participants were divided into four groups and each group has to analyze the case study based on budgeting.  In addition, Aaris Muhammad gave presentation on Self Help Group. 

At the end of the session, all the participants shared their experiences and appreciated the efforts of CBGA conducting the workshop.

Exams! Conceive it, believe it, and achieve it


Kurnool, February 18, 2013: Developing confidence and concentration of students, Rehab India Foundation organized ‘Fear Free Exam Programme’ at ALFA English Medium High School located at Nizamudheen Colony and at government School in Holagunda Village, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh.
The motive of the programme is to give easy solutions to the students feeling totally inspired and energised before and during exams.  During the programme, students shared their weakness; fear, headache, anxiety etc. which they feel before and during exams. For stress and time management, teacher Haleem shared few tips to the students like what to eat and exercise during the exams. They were taught how to manage their time for preparing all subjects.
Adding more tips, he said that make every thought serve you and move you forward, remind yourself that this won’t go forever, and add some small actions to achieve the goal.
Along with member Rehab, teacher Haleem and students participated in the programme. All over it was an effect act motivating and encouraging the students to perform their best.

(Padosi) SHG Phase-II




Rehab India Foundation is tackling national poverty by self sustaining micro finance initiative for women in rural areas to start business to support their families.

Advocate Shaik Sayyid Babu inaugurated phase II of Padosi SHG programme with the announcement of interest free loan for 15 new members of self help group at Anandpeta Village of Guntur District, A.P dated on 18th Dec 2012.

The objective of the programme is to make deprived women self sufficient and self reliant so that they can contribute in the wholesome development of their families.

Phase-I:
During Phase I, Rehab distributed interest free loan to 15 women for initiating petty shops, vegetable corners, tailoring shops etc. For wholesome development of women, Rehab India Foundation organized moral classes where they could learn how to control their expenditure for future investment. Regular weekly meetings were conducted with self help group members, discussed their challenges and collected the repayments by the members who have availed loan for initiating their micro business.

FAMILY GET TOGETHER OF SELF EMPLOYMENT BENEFICIARIES PROGRAM IN NEW DELHI



New Delhi, 20th Oct: Honored as Chief Guest, Dr. Mushahid, Prof. in Jamia Milia Islamia inaugurated the program titled “Family Get Together of Self Employment Beneficiaries”. 

A voluntary organization, Rehab India Foundation distributed interest free loans to the needy for self employment. The loan was utilized for various livelihood generation activities like buying Rickshaw, establishing tea stalls, small grocery shops etc. The program aimed to inculcate behavioral change among the beneficiary on savings & moral values in the family.150 beneficiary with their family participated in the one day get together cum workshop program.

The Chief Guest of the day Dr. Mushahid addressed the gathering and emphasized that every parent should ensure that their children must complete education so that they can contribute in the development of their family & society by and large.
Usman Baig from Popular Front of India also appreciated the efforts of Rehab India Foundation. In addition, Prizes were distributed to the Self-Employment beneficiaries who had paid all the installment of Loan. 

This besides, Prizes were distributed to the students of Rehab Tuition Centre. Prizes were given for regular attendance, hygiene and on good behavior.
Safarullah Program Manager in Rehab gave lecture on Moral and Ethical Values. After vote of thanks given by Team Rehab, Food packets were distributed among the beneficiaries.
