A Step towards UN MDGs



Assam, March 26, 2013; Achieving 2nd UN Millennium Development Goal, Rehab India Foundation unveiled Preprimary School at Assam Model Village, Bongaigaon dated on March 26, 2013.


Addressing all participants, teacher Abdul Hamid said, “Perpetuation of violence, expression of intolerance, discrimination, inequality and growing disparities in Assam and in any other corner of world can be solved by giving right education to the people. We are sure that education has the power to eradicate all evils from society. And, we need to teach our children in such a way that they will spread peace and harmony within the family and between different communities.”

Focusing on empowerment of Muslim Community through education, Nowsad Ali, Former President Hapachara Gram Panchayat expressed his grief and said, bad people first destroy their surrounding and finally themselves, so we need to teach our children mutual cooperation, fundamental peace and harmony to make surrounding and family more beautiful.”

Adding to it, Sarvana Kumar explained importance of 2nd UN Millennium Development Goal. He told, “Achieving primary education is a global concern and we need to take strong steps from today. Now people need to accept the fact that education is the only means for all round development of human. And Rehab believes that all children should have the opportunity to learn regardless of their financial condition.”

On the same, Feroja Begam, Head Master Hapachara High School was delighted to receive the response of participants. She said that it is a good beginning that forty children have enrolled and hope that in future Rehab will be succeeded to enrol more poor children and will support them for higher education.

Overall, 128 people attended the programme. Chief Guests distributed School Kits to the students, and shared snacks with all the participants.

Let’s Walk



Rehab India Foundation conducted free medical camp for deprived women, children and other vulnerable people of Nizamudheen Colony, Andhra Pradesh dated on March 20, 2013.


The camp was organized with association of ESI Dispensary. And they provided some medicines free of cost. MBBS doctor Abdul Kaleem diagnosed forty four patients who were suffering from blood pressure, joint pain, fever, diarrhoea, corn, skin infection etc. High blood pressure patients were guided for minimum use of salt. On the other hand, for low blood pressure, doctor advised to eat a diet higher in salt, and drink more fluid to keep away from viral infection during summer.

In addition, he advised anaemic, pregnant and lactating women to increase intake of milk, egg, fish and green vegetables. To add to it, Kaleem explained different exercises to the patients who were suffering from joint pains.

Team Rehab generates awareness of meditation, yoga and morning walk. All over, we get positive feedback from Village Committee. They appreciated initiatives of Rehab.

Cultural Programme: A Complete Package for Holistic Development



Andhra Pradesh: Poverty leads to various problems. It can limit children to learn and parents to encourage their children to go to school. Even in Schools, we can find, poor children lack confidence, defeat in eyes, lower motivation, behaviour problem and many other things.


Realising competence in arts and cultural act as a protective factor for children against emotional and behavioural problems, Rehab India Foundation organized cultural programme for poor students and drop outs of Nizamudheen Colony, Andhra Pradesh on March 11, 2013.

During the programme, children delivered speeches and performed different art forms. On the day, one of the village spokesperson said, “This is not only spreading the message of education, but an excellent way to preserve and promote local culture as a means of holistic development.”

On the occasion, Insaffudheen Project Manager said, “art and cultural programmes stimulate children mind and a unique way to build healthy society which promote individual, family, group and village growth and encourage development.”

CHARITY TO EMPOWERMENT



New Delhi: Recognizing the cutting edge to the development is the quality of the key personnel implementing the developmental programmes, Rehab India Foundation organized training programme on ‘Economic Development of Rural Community’ for all the Project Managers of Rehab India Foundation at Rehab Head Quarter, Abul Fazal Enclave, New Delhi on March 8th and 9th, 2013.

Afsel Chandrankandy, Secretary Rehab India Foundation welcomed Chief Guest, Guest and all the eminent dignitaries of Rehab. While asking objective of the programme, Afsel said, “Rehab India Foundation has been striving to bring about equality in the society through its various welfare programmes be it education, medical relief, drinking water facility, model village, village development program, emergency relief and equal opportunities for all. We have done tremendous work especially in the rural areas for the marginalized section of community. By doing so, we have shown great results and are committed to do this until achieve our goal. We also believe that all efforts towards achieving our goal should be revisited and re-planned to organize Village Development Project according to the need of the hour, thus we have organized this discussion to create a platform where we can plan our strategy and upgrade our present tools and methods for achieving economic equality in our implementation area.”

Honorable Sanjay Bhatt, President National Association of Professional Social Workers in India welcomed as chief guest of the training programme that aims at creating awareness at rural development. He shared his valuable experience with team Rehab. While addressing project managers, he said, “not only India but whole world is fighting for alleviating poverty. For Village Development Programme, you need to understand the layers of poverty, system and culture of the village and try to understand community as much as you can. For achieving the goal, you need to plan a programme for whole community of the village; neither specific group nor specific category and try to focus on employment generation programme than income generation programme”  Including, he told, “Also, you need to understand the causes of poverty like lack of understanding, resources and failure of system.” This apart, Bhatt focused on behavioral change, and said “as a social worker, we need to change our attitude of work and look forward from charity to empowerment of people.” 

Next day, Javed Alam, Senior Researcher CBGA talked about different government schemes which provide financial support to the NGOs for implementing rural development programmes. He said that benefits of government schemes such as CAPART, Integrated Rural development Programme, Swarn jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, MGNREGA, Indira Awas Yojana etc. do not reach the poor and the needy because of unsuccessful implementing strategies.

Pre-primary School at Gourhar, U.P



Early childhood education is one of the most important public policy options to improve equality of opportunity within a society. It is therefore important that participation in pre-primary education should include children from the poorest and least education sections of society. (Quoted by UNICEF)

Recognizing high quality education early in life gives children the best start, Rehab India Foundation unlocked Pre-primary School for poor and deprived children at Rehab Community Centre, Gourhar Village, Uttar Pradesh dated on March 2nd, 2013.

Sajid, Rehab Project Manager said, “It is the building block of child’s elementary education and helps in laying down a healthy foundation for the all-round development of child.” This apart, presently 25 children of poor families have joined the classes to learn basics in maths, science, reading, writing, social studies and more.

Being Human…


Bijnore, February 27th, 2013: The students at the Faize Alam School sat glued to their seats as Ismael Nadvi, School Principal expressively lectured on the need of personality development programme for students.

Rehab India Foundation organized parents meet and teen meet programmes at Faize Alam School, Bijnore District, Uttar Pradesh dated on February 27th, 2013.

Teen meet or personality development programme was conducted on the same day based on the theme of being human. Ismael Nadvi guided the students that to become a great person one need to have courtesy and need to broaden their horizon of understanding. To add to it, person should also have respect for elders, sympathy for poor and love for friends and family members.

Also, programme was organized to improve communication and leadership skills of the students, to set long term career objectives and to prepare and equip themselves for their future studies and career ahead.

Parents Meet: The programme was unlocked with the inaugural speech of Janab Gayoor, Manager Faize Alam School. It was arranged to motivate parents for encouraging their children acquiring basic and higher education.

During the programme, it was also emphasized that parents must understand the need of the children. They need to realize their children that they care them. Overall, it was great experience, students participated in the cultural programmes and forty parents attended the programme.


MEDICAL RELIEF FOR POOR


Kurnool, February 24, 2013: Rehab India Foundation organized medical camps at Nizamudheen Colony and Nandamuri Nagar Villages of District Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh dated on 24th February 2013.

At Nizamudheen Colony, MBBS doctor Abdul Kaleem diagnosed the patients. Altogether, Rehab provided treatment to 77 poor patients who were unable to afford the expenses of private hospitals.

During medical relief programme at Nizamudheen Colony, it was noticed that most of the patients were suffering from fever, joint pain, ENT, allergy, etc.

On same day, medical camp was also conducted at Nandamuri Nagar Village, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh. Camp was led by MBBS doctor Saifullah and he provided medical relief to 40 marginalized patients. Most of the patients were suffering from blood pressure, fever, ENT and skin infection.

Team Rehab with Doctors Saifullah and Abdul Kaleem educated the individuals about the ill effects of smoking, chewing tobacco and inhaling white fluid. Importance of yoga and other physical exercises were also highlighted in medical camps.
