Rehab India Foundation crew visited Bansibari village in Katihar district of Bihar on 10.11.2014. Mr. Afsel Chandrankandy - General Secretary, Mr. Safiullah -Community development Project Coordinator, Mr. Syed Anwar, MCJ Coordinator, Mr. Arif Project Coordinator, Mr. Sanaullah - Community development in-charge, Bihar, Mr. Vasim - State Incharge, Popular Front, and Mr. Mehaboob-Jharkhand State President, Popular Front visited the Bansibari Rehab Tuition centre. The students of the Tuition Centre gladly welcomed the team members with welcome songs.
Students’ cultural programme was organized. The students of Rehab Tuition centre actively participated in the event by quoting Hadeeth, singing Rhymes and Patriotic songs. Mr. Arif Khan – Project coordinator, interpreted the various activities and projects of Rehab India Foundation which has been completed successfully and the forthcoming projects which will be accomplished soon in the near future.
Mr. Afsel Chandrankandy – General Secretary, delivered an inspirational speech to motivate the children. He said that, the Tuition centre is just a supplementary educational assistance to the children and is not a replacement for schooling.
Village Committee meet was held following the cultural event in the Rehab Tuition centre. The meet was attended by the Rehab community centre’s committee members, Self Help Group members.
In the Committee meet, the savings and future plans of the SHG’s were reviewed and scrutinized. Mr. Afsel Chandrankandy – General Secretary, emphasized the importance on savings, which is the prerequisite for investment. He also focused regarding the SHG’s micro finance, interest free loans etc given by Rehab India Foundation to uplift the impoverished and marginal sector people to improve their standard of living. He highlighted how MSW students of Rehab India Foundation are working effectively on field and assisting the members of SHGs’.
Bansibari Primary School was visited by Mr. Afsel Chandrankandy, Mr. Safiullah, Mr. Anwar, and Mr. Arif. The grievance regarding access to Pre-matric scholarship to minorities was enquired. Headmistress of the school Smt. Barthija affirmed that the school will take necessary steps to make the scholarship available to the minority students.
On talking with a teacher of the school Mrs. Sasi Prabha, she said, there are around 300 children in the locality but very few students has been enrolled in the school. Amongst the 20 children most of them are attending the school only for the mid day meal. After which they are been called back by their parents to rear cattle and do other works. Discussions were made to solve this problem. Mr. Afsel Chandrankandy insisted the teachers and members’ in-charge to organize and conduct PTA meetings and bring awareness among the parents regarding the importance of education for their children. He also said that, schools are not just to feed the stomachs, but to feed the brains of the children.
The Headmistress and Teachers appreciated the performance of the Rehab Tuition centre students on how they have improved and performing well.
